Description:
Nerdtalks are online presentations on the Nerdland Discord Server. Members can decide to give a talk on any subject they are knowledgable about. I teamed up with my good friend Yannic Fréson to make a unified, and easy to use streaming template for these.
I created a number of different scene layouts, and the overlays and backgrounds to go along with those. The text boxes (presentation title, presenter name, etc.) were styled in OBS, and linked to text files, to make it as easy as possible for the user to edit their content. All of the elements were styled using the Nerdland colours.
I adapted the existing Nerdland logo into a logo for Nertalks.
The user base for these templates were mostly people who have little to no experience with streaming software like OBS. Since I wanted this to be accessible as possible, we bundled the template files with a portable installation of OBS. It is impossible to easily export and transfer OBS scenes to another computer, and this is where Yannic came in; He wrote a piece of software that installs the templates to the included OBS exe, so that the software requires only one-time minimal tweaking before it is ready to use.
I also wrote a readme-file exlaining the installation process in deatail, to further increase accessibility.
